ABOUT · ACCESSIBILITY

Everyone gets in

We aim for WCAG 2.2 Level AA across this site, and we build tools so other sites can get there too.

Aiming isn't the same as arriving. Below is what we've done, where we know we fall short, and how to tell us about anything we missed.

WHAT'S BUILT IN

On every page

TYPE

A font made for reading

Body text is set in Atkinson Hyperlegible, designed by the Braille Institute so similar letters are easy to tell apart.

A+ TOOLBAR

Your settings, your way

The Accessibility Toolbar offers a dyslexia-friendly font, extra spacing, high contrast, a reading guide, underlined links, read aloud and more. Your choices stick between visits.

KEYBOARD

No mouse required

Everything works from the keyboard, with a visible focus outline so you can always see where you are. The toolbar has its own Ctrl+Alt shortcuts.

CONTRAST

Colors checked, not guessed

Small orange text uses a darker shade on light backgrounds so it clears the 4.5:1 contrast ratio. Brand colors never carry meaning on their own.

MOTION

Calm when you ask

If your device is set to reduce motion, our animations, smooth scrolling and hover effects switch off.

IMAGES

Described, or quiet

Meaningful images get alt text. Decorative ones are hidden from screen readers so they don't add noise.

THIRD-PARTY CODE
This site runs on Joomla with a commercial template. Some of that markup isn't ours to edit, so we patch what we can with our own Accessibility Attribute Patch plugin.
LIVE DEMOS
Tool demo pages show modules in action and may change often. If a demo trips you up, tell us and we'll fix it.
READ ALOUD
Read aloud uses your browser's built-in speech. Voice choice and quality depend on your browser and device.

FREE TOOLS

MODULE

Accessibility Toolbar

The same visitor toolbar this site uses, free for any Joomla site.

PLUGIN

Accessibility Attribute Patch

Adds missing labels and attributes to template and extension markup you can't edit directly.
